Kiersten Rutherford

I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan as the oldest of three children in a very close-knit family. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, playing and coaching sports, spending time with family and friends, boating on Gull Lake, and traveling to new places.

I graduated from the #1 Elementary Education Program in the Nation, Michigan State University. I have earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education specializing in Language Arts with a minor in TESOL and will complete my Master of Arts Degree in Teaching and Curriculum with a focus on ESL/ELL in May, 2021. In 2016 I received the "Teacher of Promise" award at the Governor's Education and Talent Summit. I am currently living and teaching in the beautiful and growing city of Shenzhen, China. I am a Grade 2 teacher within the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program at the International School of Nanshan Shenzhen.
