Classroom Environment
One of the most important elements of education is how you create a classroom environment. I always strive for my students to have a space in the classroom where they feel safe, and comfortable to learn and grow.

Flexible Seating

This year, I introduced flexible seating and my students absolutely love it! Students are able to choose from a range of comfortable spaces within the room while they do their work. Many students choose to work responsibly in bean bag chairs, or on pillow cushions. Some love to work from the comfort of their desk, on a wobble seat, or on the rug. Giving students the choice of where to work motivates them to work diligently and independently. Next year, I plan to implement even more flexible seating choices.

Wow Moments!

Another way that I promote a positive classroom environment is through rewarding positive behaviors. When a student does something that really makes me say "wow," they earn a Wow moment! At the end of the day, I reveal the student who has earned the wow moment and they get to choose which type of applause they want (clap, round of applause, flea clap, or a rollercoaster clap). Students have their parents sign their wow moment hang it on the wall by their name tags. Students feel such a sense of pride and accomplishment when they earn a wow moment.
