Collaborative Planning in the PYP

Planning within the Primary Years Program is very collaborative and is an ongoing process. The Grade 2 Homeroom and EAL teachers at ISNS meet to collaborate 5 times a week with various coordinators (PYP, Literacy, Math, Technology, and the Principal). As teachers from various educational and cultural backgrounds and experiences, we are constantly learning new strategies and ideas from each other.
Based on our reflections, assessment moderations and discussions, we plan and design our Units of Inquiry, as well as our Math and Literacy units. As a team we create lessons, activities, formative and summative assessments in an attempt to continually improve authentic teaching and the inquiry cycle within our classrooms.
