Professional Responsibilities

Seesaw provides a great platform for me to use and keeps my student parents updated weekly. I find a strong importance of consistently communicating with parents. Every week I post pictures and information about Math, English, and our Unit of Inquiry. Seesaw helps parents to know more about what their child is doing in school and how they can help at home. Parents can celebrate their child's work and constantly stay connected.

School Visit to Hong Kong Academy (HKA)

During my second year at ISNS, I was given the opportunity to visit Hong Kong Academy. Our focus was to learn more about Inquiry within the Primary Years Program. We were able to observe a very advanced school implement their Units of Inquiry and reflected with the HKA PYP Coordinator on how we can begin to enhance our IB Program at ISNS.

Chapters International Professional Development: Promoting Student Engagement

I participated in a professional development focused on promoting student engagement. This PD has provided me with more ideas on how to structure lessons so students are more engaged and how to promote deeper thinking.

School Visit to American International School of Guangzhou (AISG)

I had the opportunity to visit a variety of PYP classrooms including Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 at AISG. This school visit was very beneficial because I felt inspired by gaining more ideas to use in my classroom. I had the opportunity to reflect with the other teachers about our experiences discussing the positives and negatives of our classroom visits.
